CEOs and Chairmen of companies are more influential when companies are seeking legal advisers than was previously thought, according to a recent survey.
The research 'Lessons for Law Firm Management' interviewed 333 clients and found that three in four considered they were primarily responsible for legal procurement, compared with 11 per cent who chose general counsel.
The survey also found that clients considered many different attributes when selecting a law firm, including billing transparency and international expertise. Clients also viewed law firms to be ineffective in their use of intranets, extranets and digital media.
The research was carried out by the Financial Times and the Managing Partners Forum.
Procurelaw would like to announce a number of additions to its platform.
Procurelaw software now includes an enhanced reporting facility and new diary options.
Corporate legal departments can now simultaneously manage multiple panels of law firms with the new Multiple Panel Application. This will allow the user to filter matters to the most appropriate panel.
The product has also added multi-user capacity as well as new tracking software which gives corporates and law firms enhanced monitoring capabilities during a bid.
Global IT company Misys reckons it saved 50 per cent on legal fees when it completed a tender on ProcureLaw.com recently. Misys is an application software and services company and a market leader in banking , treasury and capital markets where it has over 1200 customers including all of the world’s top 50 banks. The global tender saw 49 law firms over 14 jurisdictions register to take part in the tender for a project in the area of employment law. General Counsel Tom Kilroy said ProcureLaw was "easy to use with a simple online portal without lots of frills or complexity". He added that the company was able to "run a genuine and fair price comparison between competing bids" and that the legal department planned to use ProcureLaw "more extensively in the future". This would include projects in one jurisdiction as well as cross-jurisdictional projects.
The ProcureLaw team is participating in a number of prestigious events this year. Maria Sunderland and Ben Martin will be attending the ACC Europe annual conference from May 29th-31, 2011 at the Grand Hyatt Berlin and are available to answer any queries on Procurelaw.com. The team is also a sponsor of the 23rd American Lawyer Annual Corporate Counsel event which takes place on June 7-8th, 2011 at the Marriot Marquis, New York.
